The African Democratic Congress has denied reports of a possible alliance with the Peoples Redemption Party, stating that its main concern is the ongoing legal battle over its leadership structure.

The faction aligned with David Mark said it is concentrating on its appeal at the Supreme Court, which is expected to shape its future ahead of the 2027 general elections.

Speaking on behalf of the party, National Publicity Secretary Bolaji Abdullahi described reports of negotiations with another political party as false and misleading.

He explained that the ADC leadership is focused on challenging actions taken by the Independent National Electoral Commission, which withdrew recognition from both factions after conflicting court rulings.

The case originated from a leadership dispute that saw rival claims to the party’s national chairmanship, leading to multiple legal battles.

Despite speculation that the party might seek an alternative platform, the ADC maintained that abandoning its structure is not under consideration.

At the same time, the party’s youth wing has mobilised supporters for protests in Lagos, Ogun and Jigawa, calling for the removal of INEC Chairman Joash Amupitan over alleged partisanship.

The protests follow earlier demonstrations in Abuja involving opposition figures, as tensions continue to rise over the electoral body’s stance on the party’s leadership crisis.

The ADC reiterated its commitment to due process, stating that the court remains the only legitimate path to resolving the dispute and safeguarding democratic order.
