Governor Biodun Oyebanji has set an ambitious electoral target for Ekiti State, asking the All Progressives Congress (APC) to mobilise at least 80 per cent of registered voters to support President Bola Tinubu in the January 2027 presidential election.

The governor made the call on Thursday at the inauguration of the Ekiti chapter of the PBAT Door-to-Door Movement in Ado-Ekiti, where 25 vehicles were handed over to the movement for its grassroots campaign activities.

The initiative was convened by Niger Delta leader Chief Government Ekpemupolo, popularly known as Tompolo, who is leading the movement’s efforts to mobilise support for Tinubu’s re-election across different states.

Oyebanji told party leaders and supporters that the campaign required greater commitment, urging them to reach voters directly and persuade those who were yet to decide whom to support.

He said Ekiti must rise to the challenge, particularly as the movement had already visited 19 states as part of its nationwide mobilisation drive.

The governor also called on APC members to take the campaign to every community, stressing that electoral victory would depend significantly on direct engagement with voters.

Addressing the problem of voter apathy, Oyebanji urged campaigners to identify eligible residents who had Permanent Voter Cards but did not participate in previous elections. He said such voters should be personally encouraged to turn out on election day.

He linked the support expected for Tinubu to what he described as the Federal Government’s contributions to Ekiti’s development, expressing appreciation for the administration’s assistance to the state.

Oyebanji said he expected the donated vehicles to support ongoing mobilisation activities and assured the movement that its investment in Ekiti would not be wasted.

Speaking on behalf of Tompolo, the movement’s Grand Patron, High Chief Kestin Pondi, said the 25 vehicles would help the organisation expand its campaign activities and reach more communities.

Pondi called for Tinubu’s re-election, arguing that the President needed another term to consolidate his economic reforms and achieve their intended objectives.

He claimed the reforms had strengthened state governments’ ability to pay salaries and pensions and finance development projects. He also urged opposition candidates to present clear alternatives to the policies of the current administration.

The event attracted Deputy Governor Monisade Afuye, House of Assembly Speaker Adeoye Aribasoye, APC State Chairman Sola Eleshin, members of the state legislature and party representatives from all 16 local government areas.
