Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar has accused the Federal Government of deflecting blame for insecurity and economic difficulties, saying Nigerians deserve solutions rather than excuses.

The former presidential candidate reacted after presidential aide Bayo Onanuga suggested that media coverage often creates the impression that insecurity has spread across the entire country.

Atiku said the remarks appeared to place the burden of insecurity on citizens and journalists instead of addressing the root causes of the problem.

He argued that Nigerians should be able to travel, conduct business and move freely at any time without fear of criminal attacks.

According to him, advising citizens to avoid travelling at night cannot substitute for effective security measures and could negatively affect economic activities nationwide.

The former vice president insisted that reports of kidnappings and violent attacks are based on real experiences faced by many Nigerians and should not be dismissed as mere perception.

On the economy, Atiku said inflation, rising living costs and unemployment continue to place severe pressure on households across the country.

He called on the Tinubu administration to prioritise concrete actions that improve security and economic conditions, rather than criticising those reporting the challenges.
