The Secretary to the Government of the Federation, George Akume, has stated that the Federal Government is gaining ground in the fight against insurgency, noting that Boko Haram has lost much of its strength in recent operations.
Speaking in Abuja during a meeting with the Renewed Hope Fulbe Campaign Organisation, Akume said security agencies have disrupted the activities of insurgents across several parts of the country.
He explained that coordinated military action and strategic interventions have reduced the group’s ability to launch large-scale attacks, making recent incidents less organised and less impactful.
According to him, the government is strengthening national security through improved intelligence sharing, acquisition of advanced weapons, and enhanced collaboration among security forces.
Akume described the current situation as a phase of gradual recovery, expressing confidence that continued efforts would lead to lasting peace and stability nationwide.
He assured Nigerians that the progress recorded so far would be sustained, stressing that the government remains committed to protecting lives and property.
The visiting group declared support for Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Kashim Shettima ahead of the 2027 elections, pledging to mobilise Fulbe communities across the country.
Its National Coordinator, Abdullahi Tibbo, said the group would deepen grassroots engagement while promoting government initiatives targeted at rural and pastoral populations.
