Former Labour Party vice-presidential candidate, Yusuf Datti Baba-Ahmed, has warned supporters of Peter Obi against attacking him, threatening to make further damaging revelations about the former presidential candidate and the 2023 election.

Baba-Ahmed issued the warning during an interview with Symfoni TV, where he accused Obi’s supporters, popularly known as Obidients, of constantly attacking him whenever he speaks about their political leader.

He maintained that the criticism directed at him was a reaction to his decision to speak openly about Obi, insisting that he would not be intimidated into keeping quiet.

The former vice-presidential candidate specifically warned that he had more damaging information to disclose about Obi and the circumstances surrounding the 2023 presidential election if the attacks against him persisted.

“Obidients are always eager to attack me. I have more damaging things to reveal. You attack me because I told you the truth about Peter Obi,” he said.

Baba-Ahmed also reaffirmed his loyalty to the Labour Party, stressing that he would not allow attacks from Obi’s supporters to silence him or dictate his political position.

His latest outburst comes amid disagreements over Obi’s political direction ahead of the 2027 general elections, particularly his moves to join the African Democratic Congress coalition.

The former Labour Party vice-presidential candidate has recently criticised Obi’s involvement in the ADC coalition, prompting angry reactions from supporters who accused him of turning against the politician he previously ran alongside.

Some Obidients have also accused Baba-Ahmed of betraying Obi and working for former Vice-President Atiku Abubakar, further escalating the disagreement within the opposition political camp.

His latest threat to disclose more damaging information about Obi and the 2023 election could intensify the ongoing political tension, particularly as both camps continue to exchange criticisms over the direction of the opposition ahead of 2027.
