President Bola Tinubu has delivered a strong message to terrorists and their sponsors, declaring that his administration will relentlessly pursue those responsible for bloodshed and insecurity across the country.

Speaking during his Democracy Day nationwide broadcast, the President said government forces had recorded major successes against insurgents, including the neutralisation of over 13,000 terrorists within the past year.

Tinubu stated that security agencies had moved beyond conventional approaches and were now carrying out precision operations aimed at dismantling criminal networks and their command structures.

While celebrating progress in the fight against terrorism, he expressed concern over the abduction of schoolchildren and teachers in Oyo and Borno states, saying the incidents had dampened the spirit of this year’s Democracy Day celebration.

The President announced that his administration had invested heavily in security by approving the recruitment of thousands of police and military personnel and committing N5.41 trillion to defence spending in the 2026 budget.

He also highlighted the success of rehabilitation programmes, noting that more than 124,000 former insurgents and their family members had laid down their arms since 2023.

Tinubu called on Nigerians to reject division and support efforts to defeat insecurity, stressing that criminals should not be shielded by ethnic, religious or political sentiments.

The President further outlined measures taken to improve electricity supply and economic stability, while admitting that many citizens still face hardship. He pledged that government reforms would continue until their benefits are felt across every region of the country.
