Former First Lady Aisha Muhammadu Buhari has said the strongest legacy left behind by former President Muhammadu Buhari is his unwavering commitment to education and the development of Nigeria’s human capital.
She spoke during the foundation laying ceremony for a new Computer Science Complex at Al Qalam University, Katsina, a project financed with proceeds from the publication of From Soldier to Statesman: The Legacy of Muhammadu Buhari.
According to Aisha Buhari, the decision to channel funds from the book into an educational project demonstrates the family’s resolve to honour the late president by investing in young people and creating opportunities for future generations.
She noted that the complex would provide students with the knowledge and practical skills required in today’s digital economy while preserving Buhari’s legacy through learning, innovation and character development.
Highlighting the growing importance of technology, she said nations that prioritise computing, artificial intelligence, cyber security and software engineering will remain competitive in the global economy.
Vice Chancellor Professor Nasiru Musa Yauri described the project as a transformative investment that will strengthen research, innovation and practical learning. He said the university would, for the first time, have purpose built facilities for training students in computing related disciplines.
Katsina State Deputy Governor Faruk Lawal Jobe, representing Governor Dikko Umaru Radda, praised the Buhari family for continuing to promote education after the late president’s passing, saying the project reflects his enduring vision for national development.
