President Bola Tinubu, Senate President Godswill Akpabio and several governors have appealed to Nigerians to remain united and hopeful as Muslims mark this year’s Eid el Kabir celebration nationwide.
Tinubu, in his message to Muslim faithful, linked the spirit of sacrifice associated with the festival to the economic reforms introduced by his administration. According to him, the difficult decisions taken in the last three years are beginning to stabilise the economy and attract investment opportunities.
The President admitted that insecurity remains a challenge in some communities despite military operations and intelligence efforts. He, however, assured Nigerians that his administration would continue to confront terrorism, banditry and other violent crimes across the country.
Akpabio urged Nigerians to embrace patience, prayer and compassion, saying the country needs unity and collective sacrifice to overcome current difficulties. He also called for support for security agencies battling criminal elements nationwide.
Governors from Lagos, Rivers, Delta, Ondo and Oyo States also used the Sallah celebration to encourage peaceful coexistence, generosity and support for vulnerable citizens during the festive period.
Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde advised residents to remain alert and security conscious, especially as authorities intensify efforts to rescue abducted teachers and pupils in the state.
Meanwhile, former Abia State Governor Orji Uzor Kalu appealed to Nigerians not to lose faith in the country, insisting that the ongoing reforms by the Federal Government would eventually deliver economic growth and stability.
Traditional rulers and political leaders further urged citizens to pray for Nigeria’s peace, security and progress while showing love and kindness to one another during the celebration.
