President Bola Tinubu has marked the 66th birthday of First Lady Oluremi Tinubu with a personal tribute, praising her as a trusted companion who has supported him with counsel, prayer and strength throughout their years together.

Tinubu celebrated his wife in a message shared on his verified X account on Monday, highlighting the qualities he said had defined her role in his life and family.

The President described Oluremi as a woman who had remained by his side through different circumstances, including periods when he faced difficult decisions and uncertainty.

He praised her patience, courage and compassion, saying her presence had provided him with support during some of the most challenging moments of their journey.

Tinubu used a Yoruba proverb to describe the place of a supportive wife in a marriage, saying, “Ìyàwó rere ni adé ọkọ rẹ̀,” translated as “A good wife is her husband’s crown.”

He said Oluremi’s life had reflected the qualities associated with a virtuous woman, particularly through her faith, kindness and commitment to the family.

According to the President, the First Lady has often shared burdens that initially belonged to him and understood concerns he could not always put into words.

He said her calmness and prayers had been particularly important whenever circumstances became difficult or the future appeared uncertain.

Tinubu also pointed to the First Lady’s willingness to challenge him with honest advice, saying she did not hesitate to speak plainly even when he might prefer not to hear it.

The President praised Oluremi’s contribution to raising their children and grandchildren, saying her influence had helped instil values of faith and kindness within the family.

He noted that her impact had also extended beyond their immediate household through her humanitarian activities.

Tinubu recalled the work of the New Era Foundation and the Renewed Hope Initiative, saying the programmes had provided support to various groups across the country.

He specifically mentioned young people, widows, elderly Nigerians and women farmers among those who had benefited from her efforts.

The President also recognised Oluremi’s advocacy for people affected by tuberculosis and other diseases, describing her as a committed advocate for vulnerable people.

He said her compassion was not limited by tribe, region or religion, but extended across different sections of Nigerian society.

Looking back at their marriage, Tinubu said the years they had spent together had included difficult decisions, sacrifices, laughter and prayer.

He said those shared experiences had reinforced his appreciation of the value of having a dependable partner.

In one of the most personal parts of the tribute, Tinubu said he would still choose Oluremi if given the opportunity to start his life over.

The President concluded by wishing his wife a happy 66th birthday and praying that she would enjoy many more years of good health and happiness.
