Yoruba Nation activist Sunday Igboho has vowed that his Iru Ekun Security Network will reclaim forests in Kwara State from bandits, insisting the outfit will work with security agencies to combat kidnapping and restore peace across affected communities.
Speaking during the launch of the security outfit in Ilorin, Igboho said criminal groups would no longer be allowed to operate freely within communities across the state.
He announced plans to begin operations in Babanla and Eruku, describing the communities as among the areas worst affected by insecurity.
According to him, the security network was created to complement the efforts of the police, military and other security agencies rather than replace them.
Igboho urged residents to support security efforts by exposing individuals who provide information or assistance to bandits.
He also rejected allegations that the outfit targets Fulani people, insisting its operations are aimed only at criminals irrespective of their ethnic origin.
The activist expressed confidence that closer collaboration between local communities and security agencies would help reduce kidnapping, banditry and other violent crimes.
