APC lawmaker Alhassan Ado Doguwa has called on Northern Nigerians to support President Bola Tinubu’s second-term bid, describing their expected backing of the President as a “moral political obligation” ahead of the 2027 general elections.

Doguwa made the position known in a statement he personally signed, urging Northerners to rally behind Tinubu and other candidates of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the next electoral contest.

The House of Representatives member argued that backing Tinubu for another term would contribute to maintaining peaceful coexistence in Nigeria, presenting the President’s re-election as a responsibility for the region.

“Working for President Tinubu’s re-election is a moral political obligation on the people of Northern Nigeria,” he said.

He also urged residents of the North to unite behind the President and demonstrate their commitment through their votes, calling for collective support rather than individual efforts alone.

“We must rise individually and collectively to unconditionally vote for Sen. Bola Ahmed Tinubu for a second term for the continuous peaceful coexistence of our great country, Nigeria,” Doguwa added.

The statement followed a visit by APC members, area supervisors and council advisers from Doguwa, who met with the lawmaker at his residence in Kaduna on Saturday.

According to Doguwa, the meeting was connected to preparations for the forthcoming general elections in his Doguwa/Tudun Wada Federal Constituency, as political activities gather momentum ahead of 2027.

He expressed optimism that Tinubu would receive considerable support from Northern voters, stressing the importance of the region’s votes to the President’s re-election campaign.

Doguwa further argued that the solidarity he receives daily contradicts what he described as propaganda against Tinubu and the APC, maintaining that the party continues to enjoy support in the region.
