The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) will usher in a new chapter on Friday as its outgoing Registrar, Prof. Ishaq Oloyede, officially hands over the leadership of the examination body to his successor, Prof. Segun Aina, following the completion of his tenure.
The handover ceremony, scheduled for 10 a.m. on Friday, July 31, will formally mark the end of Oloyede’s administration and the commencement of Aina’s leadership. JAMB announced that the event will be streamed live on its official social media platforms, allowing stakeholders and members of the public to witness the transition.
Oloyede is widely credited with introducing major reforms that transformed the operations of JAMB, including the deployment of technology to strengthen the conduct of the Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME), improve transparency in admissions, curb examination malpractice and enhance the board’s overall efficiency.
His tenure also saw the expansion of digital admission processes and the implementation of policies aimed at making the examination and admission system more credible, accountable and accessible to candidates across the country.
President Bola Tinubu recently appointed Prof. Segun Aina, a Professor of Computer Engineering, to succeed Oloyede as Registrar of JAMB. The appointment is expected to sustain the board’s drive toward innovation and improved service delivery.
According to the Presidency, Aina has extensive expertise in digital transformation, examination systems and institutional reforms. He has also advised federal and state governments on technology-driven reforms and served as a consultant to examination bodies, including NECO and NABTEB.
The Presidency expressed confidence that the incoming registrar possesses the experience and technical competence to build on the reforms introduced under Oloyede while further strengthening the operations of JAMB in line with global best practices.
With the formal transfer of leadership on Friday, stakeholders in the education sector will be watching closely as Aina assumes office with expectations of consolidating past achievements and steering JAMB into a new era of innovation, transparency and efficient service delivery.
