The uproar sparked by First Lady Oluremi Tinubu’s viral “akara business” advice has taken a fresh twist after APC chieftain Joe Igbokwe expressed deep disappointment, saying the relentless attacks on her have filled him with shame.

The First Lady recently advised citizens to consider ventures such as frying akara, selling roasted corn and producing kuli-kuli as ways of earning a living.

Remi Tinubu’s remarks generated strong reactions online, with many Nigerians insisting that government should focus on creating jobs instead of recommending petty businesses.

Reacting through a Facebook post on Saturday, Igbokwe described the attacks on the First Lady as unfair and unnecessary.

He argued that Oluremi Tinubu merely offered practical advice intended to encourage self-reliance among young Nigerians.

According to him, social media has become a space where genuine messages are twisted into opportunities for insults and personal attacks.

Igbokwe added that the hostility displayed by many online users had left him feeling ashamed.
