Nigeria Bar Association (NBA) President-elect, Oyinkansola Badejo-Okusanya says she will step down if credible evidence proves the election that brought her into office was manipulated, insisting the electronic voting process was transparent and free of rigging.
She made the declaration while responding to allegations by some contestants who rejected the outcome of the July 2026 election.
Badejo-Okusanya maintained that the electronic voting process was transparent, saying she led consistently from the beginning of the election without any signs of vote manipulation.
She said there was no evidence of vote dumping or suspicious changes in the results, describing the exercise as one of the most closely monitored NBA elections.
The senior advocate also dismissed claims that she was the preferred candidate of the outgoing NBA President, Afam Osigwe, insisting he never made such a declaration to her.
She further rejected suggestions that her family connections to the Federal Government would influence her leadership, promising to remain accountable to NBA members and defend the rule of law.
Despite continued criticism from some contestants and lawyers over the conduct of the election, Badejo-Okusanya insisted no credible evidence of rigging has been presented.
