Senator Adams Oshiomhole has said Nyesom Wike’s support is for President Bola Tinubu and his re-election bid, rather than the All Progressives Congress, APC, which the FCT Minister has repeatedly said he does not belong to.

Oshiomhole made the clarification while speaking during an interview on TVC on Tuesday.

The Edo North senator was responding to questions surrounding the political disagreement between Wike and some APC governors.

The dispute intensified after the FCT Minister accused some governors elected on the APC platform of being “politically lazy.

Oshiomhole, however, said Wike’s criticism of some APC governors does not mean he is opposed to President Tinubu.

The former Edo governor stressed that Wike has consistently made a distinction between supporting Tinubu and belonging to the APC.“Wike is supporting President Tinubu and not the APC,” Oshiomhole said.

According to him, both Wike and the APC governors involved in the disagreement remain committed to the same political objective of supporting Tinubu’s re-election.

“I am comfortable with the fact that the two sides are working for the same goal, supporting the President,” he added.

Oshiomhole further said he had not heard any of the parties involved, including Wike, declare opposition to Tinubu’s bid for another term.

He recalled that Wike has repeatedly stated publicly that he is not an APC member, while maintaining his support for Tinubu.

“He has said so himself repeatedly that he is not an APC person; he is not a member of the APC, but he supports the President,” Oshiomhole said.

The clarification comes as political alignments ahead of the 2027 elections continue to attract attention, particularly regarding politicians supporting Tinubu outside formal APC membership.
