The Nigerian Air Force and Nigeria Police EOD unit have carried out joint training in Bauchi to improve the ability of Special Forces trainees to detect and counter improvised explosive devices.

The training exercise was designed to enhance operational awareness, improve force protection, and prepare personnel for threats in high risk environments.

Squadron Leader Lawrence Akpan, Commandant of the Training Centre, said the programme is part of efforts to produce disciplined and mission ready operatives capable of functioning in complex security conditions.

He noted that the Nigerian Air Force leadership under Air Marshal Sunday Kelvin Aneke continues to prioritise practical training and readiness for real combat situations.

Participants were taken through hands on demonstrations involving identification of explosive devices and understanding of their components and activation methods.

The Police EOD team also demonstrated how pressure plate IEDs function, giving trainees direct exposure to real world threat scenarios.

Both agencies emphasised that the joint exercise reflects stronger collaboration aimed at improving national security and countering insurgency related threats.
