Nigeria’s First Lady, Oluremi Tinubu, has urged young Nigerians to reject a beggarly lifestyle and embrace contentment, patience, hard work and resilience, warning that lasting success cannot be achieved through shortcuts or the pursuit of quick wealth.

The First Lady gave the advice while receiving the leadership of the All Progressives Congress (APC) National Youth Wing at the State House in Abuja, where she also donated nine buses to support the group’s activities and grassroots mobilisation.

Addressing the youth leaders, Senator Tinubu urged Nigerian youths to remain focused on building a better future through diligence, discipline and perseverance rather than comparing themselves with others or becoming discouraged by temporary setbacks. She stressed that patience and consistent effort remain essential ingredients for meaningful and sustainable success.

She encouraged them to cultivate what she described as the “eagle mentality,” explaining that just as the eagle rises above storms instead of being overwhelmed by them, young people should develop the resilience to overcome life’s challenges and remain committed to their personal aspirations.

The First Lady also urged youths to trust God’s timing, noting that many young people are often tempted to seek instant success without recognising the value of hard work, integrity and persistence. She advised them to remain content with honest progress and avoid lifestyles that promote dependency or the desire for unearned rewards.

Senator Tinubu commended the APC National Youth Wing for fostering unity and cohesion within the ruling party, describing young people as vital partners in national development. She encouraged the youth leadership to continue mobilising support for the Renewed Hope Agenda of President Bola Tinubu and to project the administration’s programmes and achievements across the country.

To strengthen the youth wing’s operational capacity, the First Lady presented nine buses to the APC National Youth Leader, Deputy National Youth Leader, the six zonal youth leaders and the Federal Capital Territory chapter. She expressed confidence that the vehicles would improve coordination, community engagement and grassroots outreach.

Responding on behalf of the beneficiaries, Dayo Israel thanked the First Lady for the donation, describing it as a timely intervention that would enhance the youth wing’s mobilisation efforts and expand its engagement with communities nationwide. He said the buses would improve the group’s outreach activities and further strengthen its presence across the country.
