The Presidency says U.S. President Donald Trump’s letter to President Bola Tinubu is a sign that the administration’s efforts are being recognised internationally, describing it as evidence that government reforms and security initiatives are making progress.

Speaking during an interview on Channels Television’s Politics Today, Presidential Adviser on Policy Communications Daniel Bwala said the message from the U.S. President is an indication that Nigeria’s efforts are receiving international attention.

Trump had praised Tinubu’s leadership and commended his administration’s efforts to improve security in the country.

Bwala said the letter serves as encouragement and further validates the government’s ongoing reforms and engagement with international partners.

He added that the administration would remain committed to implementing its programmes whether or not it receives international commendation.

The presidential aide said government remains focused on improving governance, strengthening security and delivering on its development agenda.

He also compared the letter to words of encouragement exchanged in a relationship, saying such support strengthens commitment but does not determine it.
