Plateau Governor, Caleb Mutfwang has promised tougher action against criminals behind the recent killings in Plateau State, insisting that his government will not allow violence to overwhelm affected communities.
The governor made the declaration on Monday when he visited victims of the deadly attack in Nding community, Barkin Ladi Local Government Area.
Mutfwang sympathised with bereaved families and displaced residents, assuring them that the state government remained committed to protecting lives and restoring normalcy in troubled communities.
According to him, security agencies had intensified operations across affected areas to stop further attacks and track down those responsible for the violence.
The governor commended security operatives for acting swiftly during the crisis, saying their intervention prevented the attacks from extending into Barkin Ladi town and surrounding communities.
At a stakeholders meeting attended by community leaders, youth groups and religious bodies, Mutfwang vowed that all those involved in the attacks would face justice regardless of their status.
As part of measures to improve security, the governor ordered the strict enforcement of the ban on night mining activities and directed miners to end operations by 5 p.m. daily. He also banned night grazing and underage grazing activities.
Mutfwang later assured residents that the government would provide stronger security for farmers ahead of the planting season while also supporting agricultural activities through fertiliser subsidies and other intervention programmes.
