FCT Minister Nyesom Wike has met Rivers State Governor Siminalayi Fubara at the governor’s private residence in Port Harcourt, in what sources described as part of ongoing efforts to strengthen political reconciliation in the state.

Wike led some leaders of the Rainbow Coalition to the meeting on Tuesday, including Rivers APC governorship candidate Kingsley Chinda and Senator Magnus Abe.

It was the first time Wike was reported to have visited Fubara since the political crisis between the two politicians was resolved.

The reason for the meeting was not immediately made public, but sources linked the visit to efforts to consolidate the renewed peace between the former political allies.

The development follows meetings between Fubara and a reconciliation committee led by Senator Magnus Abe.

The committee had met the governor twice at the Rivers State Government House to discuss the integration of Fubara’s supporters into the emerging political arrangement.

Fubara had earlier declared publicly that he had returned to his political family following the reconciliation.

A source said Wike’s latest visit was also intended to demonstrate that the peace process had progressed beyond discussions and was being translated into political engagement.

The source said the meeting was strategic as the Rainbow Coalition prepares for its political activities ahead of the 2027 general elections.

Core supporters of Fubara and leaders of the coalition were reportedly part of the meeting.

The participants were said to have discussed possible areas of cooperation and strategies for working together ahead of the elections.

The coalition has not officially commenced its 2027 campaign, but the meeting marks another step in efforts to build a common political structure in Rivers State.
